Meet our Team

Jeff and Grace run Lucky Paws Tennessee. They have a combined experience of over 30 years working with all sorts of dog breeds and dog behaviors. We love all dogs, big, small, trained or wild. Dogs are our passion.

  • Grace got her first dog Sonoma when she was 9 years old after years of begging her parents to get a dog. She hasn’t been without a dog since. As a teen she was interested in becoming a vet and bred Dalmatians to gain more experience. She also worked as an apprentice under Hazelbaker Dog Training to gain more dog training experience and volunteered with 4H Guide Dogs.

While she was in college she worked at a local animal hospital. She discovered that she didn’t want to become a veterinarian so she went into the medical field and became a Respiratory Care Practitioner. It was a very rewarding career, but she missed being around dogs all day. After a decade of healthcare work Grace decided to start her own business in dogs. She started Lucky Dog San Francisco where she became a Commercial Dog Walker through the SF Animal Care and Control. The course involved studying animal behavior, the types of dog breeds, how to read dog’s body language, dog park etiquette, learning how to walk multiple dogs together, how to pair dog walking clients safely in a group, dog fight prevention, dog training, animal safety, pet first aid and CPR. Soon after getting certified to walk and train dogs her business boomed. She walked 16-20 dogs a day in small controlled group environments both on and off leash. In the evenings she focused on dog training and became well known for her positive training style with proven results. She found her passion and talent in life and that is dogs! She loves working with all breeds, sizes and temperaments. She has a soft spot for the fearful, anxious and difficult to manage dogs. She is constantly reading/staying up to date about the latest science based, positive reinforcement training methods, she is active in the dog training communities and really wants what is best for your dog. Sometimes all a dog really needs is patience, routine, love, consistency and trust.

  • Jeff’s first dog was an Australian cattle dog named Foster. Soon after bringing him home, Jeff found himself over his head with Foster’s strong will, energy level, and intelligence. Soon after this, he began befriending the dog walkers and trainers that frequented his local dog park. They opened his eyes to modern training techniques and the power they have to improve both a dog and their owners lives.

Jeff began assisting local walkers as a side job while attending school for advertising. He soon realized that the dogs were his true calling, and started his own walking and boarding business. He named this business Ranger’s Squadron after his second dog, a deaf cattle dog mix named Ranger. He brought to this business a passion for helping dog owners understand their dog’s behaviors and needs so that they could live their best lives together.

Jeff is a graduate of the dogbiz U Dog Walking Academy, bringing with him an enhanced understanding of canine behaviors, training techniques, group management, dog park etiquette, and pet first aid and CPR.
